about

Produced by the band with Alex Fenton at Swanfield Studios in Edinburgh www.swanfieldstudios.co.uk over the course of the last year, 'Snide Rhythms' features the band’s 2010 double A-Snide single, I Can’t Keep Up/People Pleaser (produced with Gregor ‘Cinema’ Reid at Castle of Doom studios, Glasgow), alongside nine new tracks.

This showcases for the first time Snide Rhythms’ broad spectrum of influences, from legendary labels such as Manchester’s Factory and Edinburgh’s Fast Records to Kingston’s Firehouse.

Snide Rhythms come from the mind-your-language school of thought. They were born at night, but not last night. On their first album but they are taking their first step but already planning their next move. Once described in a lost piece as humble/arrogant, Snide Rhythms want you to believe in yourself. The art school dance goes on forever but the art school dream is over.

"barked lyrics, funky, conversational basslines and the occasional burble of aqueous analogue keyboards or Afro rhythm" - (Jim Gilchrist, The Scotsman)

"Musically jaunty and lyrically wry, Snide Rhythms are possessed with an off-kilter quirkiness bordering on brilliance that more than justifies the band's name" - (Neil Cooper, The List)

"Matching strong vocals, fantastic lyrics and an interplay between conventional percussion and electronic harmonies, Snide Rhythms is a ten track punch that packs its own indefatigable weight" - (Johnathan Whitelaw, is this music?)

"an innovative and imaginative record" - (Rik Wolters, The Sound Project)

Placed 20 in Top 50 Albums of 2012 - (17 Seconds)
